TIM KELLY

Tim Kelly is an amateur boxer and a certified USA boxing coach at the ROC. Tim first met Coach Dom Arioli while attending the Aquinas Institute in Rochester, NY, where in addition to playing football, he started his boxing career.  In 2006 Tim became a Captain on the boxing team at Aquinas. As a boxer, Tim earned the Freshman Fighter of the Night award in 2003, and the Fighter of the Night award in 2006 as the winner of the main event that night.  Under Coach Dom Tim learned a great deal about competition, discipline, hard work, conditioning, leadership, and teamwork, which he applies in everything he does.

As an amateur boxer, Tim is currently 8-5, with 3 TKOs. Tim also won the NYS Golden Gloves title in 2008 and competed in the state finals for 2009. Tim's training and conditioning was under Dom Arioli, Bernie Barco, and Armando Munoz. Training with a diversity of coaches was extremely beneficial to consistently improving his boxing skills. This was a good learning experience not only as a boxer, but as a coach as well, where in addition to his knowledge of physical training and boxing techniques he has learned the entire process of tournaments and how to prepare for a bout.

Tim is currently studying Business Management at St. John Fisher College, looking forward to graduation with a Bachelor's degree in May of 2010. He plans on moving into the biology field and beginning to study nutrition as well. Tim has earned a First Generation Scholarship through St. John Fisher for his leadership and activeness within the community, and is also a captain on Fisher's Men's Rugby Team. While at Fisher Tim spends a few hours one day a week helping to tutor grade school and high school students. He has also participated in many fund raisers for breast cancer research and Lupus research, and consistently volunteers in many Special Olympics events as well such as Special Olympics Softball and Bowling since 2007. In addition to his many extracurricular activities he has worked as a Management Intern at Wegmans Food Markets since January of 2005, with extensive experience in multiple departments around the store.

Tim is a very driven young coach. He continues to learn and grow from every experience, and has a strong passion for coaching others, not only to see the improvements that they make, but to instill values of hard work and discipline in younger boxers as well. In 2010, Tim passed the Level USA Boxing Officials exam.Tim is highly competitive, active in many sports such as boxing, football, baseball, and rugby. He is always active, and applies his diverse knowledge to find improvement in other fields. Tim's strong passion for sport-specific conditioning, planning for future events, and constant desire to learn and apply these techniques makes him an excellent coach for anyone interested in learning the sport, improving their physical fitness, or becoming a boxer.
